Everybody wants to take the safest roads. We let circumstances – whether it be expectations of others, compensating returns or societal values – define the routes we choose. As lines blur between what we ‘should’ do and ‘must’ do, we often lose sight of the journey our sincere selves wish to take. After many years as a successful designer, Purin Phanichphant decidedly left behind his full-time career, and ignored his brain’s frightened objections, to follow the resonant sound of his heart and travel the world.
– Purin is a designer at IDEO San Fransisco, and a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University.
– He is the oldest son of professor Vithi Phanichphant, founder of the Thai Art Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University.
